Sliding into Wellness Wednesday right at the closing of the day.

Now. Onto today’s *quick* post.
First – The Numbers:
Last Week’s Weight: 141.4 LBS
This Week’s Weight: 139.4 LBS
Difference: -2.0 LBS
Total Since Weight Loss Journey Began:
-16 LBS -10.6 LBS
I began the weight loss portion of my journey at 150 lbs. It had been a rapid and steady increase. Then came high cholesterol numbers, very high cholesterol numbers, at 27 years old. My doctor set the goal. 130. That was the goal to work towards.
And I made it all the way down to 134…before falling victim to the same cycle.
Which brings us to today.
I first heard about the Whole30 from my friend over at The Health Wish. I must confess, I was intrigued. Over the last month, I have continued to read and research this program. I’ve given myself excuses for why I could never do it, “It would cost too much”, it would “be too much work”, “I wouldn’t like to eat that way”.
Then I started thinking about my health. My husband’s health. (Type II diabetic).
The eating habits I was setting/showing/teaching our son.
I dug more. More into people who have completed the program. More into the affordability of it. More into what the program is really all about.
Today I read, “It Starts with Food” by Melissa and Dallas Hartwig. The couple behind the program. I felt like my brain was bursting at the seems. I reached a place of knowing I was going to do this program, yet still facing excuses of why I “couldn’t start yet”.
Then I committed. Friday. February 1st.
February will mark the beginning of the last year of my 20’s. I want to enter my 30’s having truly fought the battle to end my food addictions. To end making food my idol when sad, depressed, or unhappy. To end the vicious cycle I’ve spent the last decade in. After researching, reading, thinking, talking, more researching, more thinking, it was time to take the plunge.
For the next 30 days my Wellness Wednesday posts will change for just a bit.
I’ll let you know how I’m doing on the program. The ups, the downs, so that way, just in case you are in the place I’m in, and you start “checking” the program out, you’ll at least have one more “resource” to see “how it worked for them”.
I will not be stepping on the scale at all during the Program. The only reason being, because that’s part of the program.
It’s not about losing weight. It’s about fighting food addictions. It’s about fighting the battles that I need to fight.
My hope, for my personal journey on this whole 30, is that I will adapt a more diabetic friendly lifestyle for my husband, and a more “veggie” increased lifestyle for my cholesterol. That as I stop turning to food, giving into those addictions to binge eat and carb load, I’ll instead turn to Jesus.
Right now, the thing I am most apprehensive about is coming down with the “carb flu”. The reality is, that’s not the worst thing I’ll ever face.
Next Wellness Wednesday, I’ll be 6 full days into the Program. *Nervous Excitement*

I really am excited to do this program. I’m excited to see what the results for a food addict like me will have. I’m excited to see how this will change “food” for my family. I’m excited to see how the Lord will use this to grow me even more.
