It’s been awhile, so I was excited to feel inspired this morning to participate in Five Minute Friday. Let’s do this!
1. Write for 5 minutes flat for pure unedited love of the written word.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. Go buck wild with encouragement for the five minuter who linked up before you.
Today’s Word: SMALL
Ready. Set. GO
It’s so easy to slip into big.
Big feelings. Big thoughts. Big wants. Big complaints.
It’s easy to slip into big because there could always be more.
And in our bigness we think,
It’s so easy to slip into big,
Big grudges and big judgments.
Big hurts and big pain.
We wrap ourselves in big blankets to hide from the big world.
The great big world where there could not be,
not statistically even one,
who would understand us in our bigness.
Then there are small moments.
The stranger’s hug,
The friend’s gift of coffee,
The tiny smile,
or the tiny nod of acknowledgement.
That moment when you find a letter your grandmother wrote.
Or that moment when you heard your father say “I Love You.”
The moment your mother wrapped you up in her arms and let you cry.
The moment you held your child for the first time,
or the moment you first walked hand in hand with the one you love.
There is the moment you looked up from your work and noticed the brilliant colors painted in the sunset across the sky.
The small moment you offered your help to someone in need
and you still don’t realize you helped change their life.
The moment the pet you loved a lifetime had to say good-bye.
The moment the person you loved a lifetime had to say good-bye.
and tiny feet,
and tiny hearts that laugh before they can speak.
And it’s in these small moments,
countless and sprinkled throughout the entire bigness of our lives,
we see how small we are.
The God of our Big Universe,
gives us sprinkled moments.
They help us remember our smallness,
and His greatness.
And He shows us
Big and Small,
Least and Great,
and what they really mean.
In Love & Faith,
